LEARN ABOUT ARLINGTON HEIGHTS

A time capsule of 100 years of architecture history and a protected historic district, Arlington Heights is bounded to the south by state route 244 and to the north of Arlington Boulevard. Although not directly on a metro line, Arlington Heights offers convenient access to a plethora of major highways, cycling routes, and bus stops. Due to its prime location, residents can enjoy both the enticing shopping and entertainment of Arlington and all that Alexandria has to offer. Although Arlington Heights initially was a farming community, the area experienced massive housing expansion before and after the Second World War.

The beautiful homes in the area are crucial to its unique character, sense of privacy, and tight-knit suburban community. Most of the architecture consists of Tudor Revival and Colonial Revival structures, with some of the oldest residences dating back to the 1890s. Almost all of the houses in Arlington Heights are detached single-family homes, a small number of duplex homes, and several garden-style apartment communities. The neighborhood is notably lacking high-rise apartment complexes that are so common in other neighboring areas. In fact, only one high rise apartment complex exists in Arlington Heights.
